Seven bast fibers are usually used and are put into a spherical tank (digester) with water and chemical. The fibers are separated from each other by heated mixture for up to eight hours at elevated temperature and pressure. The chemical and the extracted binding components (pectin) removed by washing with excess water. 

The clean fibers are then fed into Hollander beater (a machine consist of large tub equipped with a wheel revolving around a horizontal axis). The fiber are cut’s to the desired length after this beating step, which lasts for up to 12 hours and produces the required surfaces  roughness for proper bonding. During this step bleaching chemicals are sometimes added. It is pressed to dryness suitable for transportation after pumping the bleached pulp in the paper.
